The Quaker Gem by Lesley Crawford, Amer., (1887-1963)

Regular price $250

Lithograph, 1940's, 13-3 16 x 9-3/4, Ed. unknown, pale trace of mat line trace of old, bottom center margin edge, light toning verso, on thick smooth cream wove paper 16 x 11-3/4, signed and titled in pencil. Crawford studied at the ASL with Nicolades, and spent her life between Summit New Jersey and Springfield VT. She made a number of lithographs with urban, rural, interior and still life subjects. The Quaker Gem was an ornate and popular cast iron stove in it's day, and no doubt threw some heat; much to the contentment here of the mother cat nursing her kittens.
