Etching, 1888, Z.51, 4-11/16 x 3-1/8 signed with initials bottom right in the plate, JAW, printed on on a sheet of antique grayish laid paper trimmed to the platemark by the artist, a lifetime proof printed by J. Alden Weir, signified in pencil by the artist's daughter Caro Weir Ely with his initials on a corner verso. The artist has added a sense of mystery by leaving a veil of ink to shroud the woman's face in shadow. Descended in the family of the artist. Rare.
