"Bois de Finge" by Alexandre Calame, Swiss, (1810-1864)

Lithograph, ca. 1851, edition unknown, one of twenty landscape subjects from "Sites Varies de Paysages par Calame", published in Paris by Francois Delarue, 1846-50, 16 x 11-15/16, signed in the stone with the scratched signature at lower left, title and publication text in the margin below image, on cool white wove paper. Calame was the premiere Swiss master of landscape lithography in the 19th century. His formidable gifts as a prolific painter and printmaker are long overdue for scholarly re-evaluation in America.
