"A Bridge at......Cut" by J. Andre Smith
Drypoint, ca. 1910, ed. unknown, this impression a proof, 5-3/8 x 7-1/4, signed & (partially) titled in the plate, and signed, dated & dedicated in pencil, on thin buff wove proofing paper, a discreet professionally repaired tear to lower right margin corner, small margins. A beautiful, atmospheric early impression with much burr. J. Andre Smith was a prolific painter and printmaker who's work ranged from traditional Whistlerian subjects to bold cubist abstractions later in life. He was an excellent draftsman who's work deserves to be better known.
