"Diana with Two Deer" by Samuel Davis Otis
Gold -Toned Photogram, ca. 1930's-40's, ed. unknown but very small, ca. 6 x 8, unsigned as usual, on printing out paper. From the artist's estate. Samuel D. Otis was a highly talented commercial and fine artist, proficient in many media. He started his career as an illustrator, and was invloved with the Silvermine Guild of Artists in the Norwalk Connecticut area for many years, serving as it's president for a time. There is a strong Art Deco style to these photograms he developed using cut paper figures, and a playful, witty and sensuous erotic quality as well. Unusual.
