"Arabic Landscape" by Emil Orlik, Ausrian, (1870-1932)
Etching, ca. 1912, published by Verlag Der Gesellschaft Fur Verveilfaltigende Kunst, Vienna, 7-13/16 x 11-5/16, unsigned, identified in printed text in bottom margin, on cream wove paper, unobtrusive diagonal soft fold in image right of center, a pale stain in image left of center, small creases at image edges, margins trimmed, one small edge tear left margin edge center, top right corner margin tip clipped. Orlik was a talented painter and prolific print maker who mastered several print media, producing etchings, lithographs and color woodcuts, sometimes with a distinct secessonist style. He also produced a number of etchings of middle eastern desert subjects, as seen here.
