"City Street Corner" by Harry Hering
Etching, probably 1940's, 5 x 8-5/16, ed. unknown, signed in pencil, on smooth cream wove paper, slight foxing to left margin. Hering's style here has a personal handwriting which captures the light, textures and street level activity of this city corner seen from above. It's informal sketchbook quality still manages to convey a realism and authenticity to this scene. Both this print and the one below share the same vantage point, though the means differ and we have here a city and below a country setting.
