"Pyramidal Geometric Abstraction" by Douglas Reid Hansen, Amer., (1900-circa1990)
Gouache with Chalk on illustration board, ca. 1940's-50's, 12-1/8 x 15-1/16, unsigned, tack holes and glue residue in margins of board. From the artist's estate. Douglas Reid Hanson studied with Charles Hawthorne, the Corcoran School of Art & Design and the National Academy School. He was an art educator for many years in the west, likely retiring to HiIlton Head Island, SC where I purchased 3 pieces from his estate in the late 1980's. His mid century modern abstract painting style and use of color are complex and engaging.
