"Flee Flea" by William Kent, (Amer., 1919-2012)
Slate Print, 1963, this impression printed 1966, Ed. of 10 or more on various papers and fabrics, 18" x 17", here printed on a satin acetate fabric with a colorful floral motif in shades of yellow, blue, pink, red, orange, green and gray; signed, dated and noted "Artist Proof" by the artist in black pen. This print shares the title of a life sized wood carving from 1960 of a man holding a giant flea. When Kent first settled into his CT barn studio, he befriended the resident feral cats who provided both companionship and an endless supply of fleas. Behind the flea is a bottle of flea power which bears the title for the print. Two known impressions are on this fabric.
