"Helen" by Leon Louis Dolice, Amer., (1892-1960)
Etching, ca. 1930's-40's, 5-3/8 x 5, pale mat line, stains, abrasions to margins, stain along top image edge, with surface loss and thinning to adjacent margin above plate mark, diagonal printing creases to image left of woman, pale mat line and light stains to margins, signed in pencil and initialed L. D. imp. in pencil denoting an impression printed by Dolice, on thick cream wove paper. A lovely, intimate domestic scene of a nude woman dressing at bedside, with condition issues from the abject and careless framing practices which Dolice's prints were often subjected to; hence the reduced price for one of the artist's best loved subjects.
