"Festival (Provincetown)" by Sol Wilson, Amer., (1896-1974)
Lithograph, ca. 1950, ed. 250, 13-3/4 x 9-1/2, on warm white wove paper, signed, titled and dedicated in pencil, slightest tone within mat opening, some waviness to edge of top margin, small hinges at corners. The swarming crowd pressed here against towering masts of fishing boats on the wharves of Provincetown elicits a similar feeling to the teeming hordes dwarfed by skyscrapers in Abraham Walkowitz's lithographs of of New York from early in the 20th century.
