"Afternoon Shadows" by Ronau W. Woiceske, Amer., (1887-1953)
Drypoint, ca. 1940, ed. 50, 9-7/8 x 11-7/8, signed and titled in pencil, on ivory wove paper. Ronau W. Woiceske was a consumate master of winter scenes rendered in the challenging medium of drypoint. His ability to evoke brilliant light and silvery shadows reflecting off of snow, the voluptuous form of snow laden evergreens or delicacy tracery of bare branches is simply remarkable. "Afternoon Shadows" is a superb example of his work.
