Regular price $650
Lithograph, 1961,  Ed. 250 for AAA, C. 83,  14-3/8 x 10-1/16, signed in pencil, a little waviness at sheet edges from printing, on smooth, cream wove Basingwerk paper. Arriving in America from Russia in 1912 with his family; including artist brothers Moses and Isaac, Raphael Soyer studied at the National Academy of Design and Art Students League, where he later taught. His notable teachers were Guy Pene DuBois and Boardman Robinson. Soyer's portraits, including himself, female nudes and scenes of New York life from the 30's through 1970's relate to the Ash Can School in their sincere empathy for subjects from all walks of life, such as the lovely young woman sensitively portrayed here. The original tatty AAA label is included with the print.
