"Wayside Cottage" by C. Jac Young, Amer., (1880-1940)

Etching, 1940, probable AAA Edition of 250, 6-7/16" x 9-15/16", on cream wove paper with a partial watermark, signed in pencil, a mat line from previous mount and brown water tape to edges verso, a fine, crisp impression of this lyrical winter image. Young's graphic works demonstrate a bold and succinct directness in their rendering; yet they exhibit subtle gradations of value and differentiations of texture one wouldn't assume from such boldness, and which certainly add to one's appreciation over time.
