"Pioneers Resting" by Eugene Higgins, Amer., (1874-1958)
Etching, 1938, ed. 149, LC 164, 5-3/4 x 7-7/8, on cream wove paper, signed in pencil. The image is fine, but there are marginal issues. There is a very pale mat line, a small repaired puncture in the lower left margin and a short repaired tear at the right center margin edge. Higgins, who was called "The American Millet" for his many empathetic images of the rural and urban poor, summered in Old Lyme Ct for many years.
