"The Royal Exchange and Bank of England", William Walcot, English, (1874-1943)
Regular price
$600
Drypoint, 1924, Ed. of 150, d. 93, 4 x 5-3/4, on cream wove paper, four thinned spots with pale tape residue in margins well away from subject, lightened within mat opening, a strong impression with rich burr, signed in pencil. Drypoint is a demanding medium, and with his natural drawing skill and sound training as an architect, Walcot's mastery of the medium is most impressive; especially when he suggests vast architectural spaces rich with strolling figures and dramatic light as we see here.
