"R.K.P. Series Number Four" by M. G. Martin, Amer., (1931-2013)

Regular price $600

Color Linocut, 1994, Ed. 9, , 18 x 12, on warm white wove CMP Watermarked paper, signed, titled and numbered in pencil. This is one of two prints which is illustrated in the April 2016 issue of Journal of the Print World in my article "The Imprint of Gender" introducing her work as a printmaker. It is a classic example of the bilateral symmetry Martin explored in her mature work in prints and many other media. With one known exception, Her prints were issued mostly in very small editions, ranging from a few proofs to 25 impressions. Many of the proofs were unsigned at her passing in 2013. I personally saw her printing this R.K.P. series in 1994. The R. K. P. stands for the Road Kill Press, an artist cooperative print studio set up in Kent, CT in the 1990's with presses loaned by the late Jonathan Scoville, a CT landscape painter and printmaker from West Cornwall, CT.
