Color Woodcut, 1930's, 9-9/16 x 15-3/8, signed in image with ER monogram at l.r., pencil signed i.r. with Original Holzschnitt l.r., small circular thin spot in paper near reed reflection at l. l., some pale foxing to margins, old hinges top margin edge, on a sheet of cream laid japan paper with full original deckle edges 13-3/8 x 18. Born in Berlin to a family accomplished in the arts, her great uncle being composer Felix Mendelson, Roemer studied painting in Berlin and Hamburg, before traveling around Europe, and eventually working in the United States as well. It's not known where she learned block printing, but her fine prints compare well to her German and Austrian contemporaries of the 20's and 30's.
