"Celestial Swine" by Evelynn Swetlow, Amer., (20th Cent.)

Color Woodcut. 14-7/8 x 20-1/8, signed, titled, dated & numbered in pencil, on thin fiberous  cream wove paper, with traces of glue in the top & bottom right margin corners, lightly toned within mat opening. This print was exhibited at a Brooklyn Museum National Print Annual, and the entry label accompanies the print. A large, witty and rather adventurous use of cutting and texture, by this N.Y. artist, about whom little is known, showing distinct affinities to the work of  Louis Schanker and the Art Brut of Jean Dubuffet.
