Hohenstein was a German painter, illustrator and designer for the theater. His design work was a pivotal influence on the Italian Stile Liberty Art Nouveau movement. This beautiful poster design is a tribute to Alessandro Volti, the inventor of the battery, and is greatly enlivened by the use of gold inks to mimic gilding.
