"Dash and Splash" by M. G. Martin, Amer., (1931-2013)

Etching & Aquatint, 1962, Ed. of 6 only, 23-5/8 x 15-7/8, signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil, on cream wove paper. substantial foxing to margins, barely affecting image. Printed at Bob Blackburn's Harlem Studio. Ms. Martin traveled to Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship Grant in 1958-59, and for many years was the Chair of the Art Department at the Westover School in Middlebury, CT. Her mature work featured  playful inventions of organic form and lmany explorations of bilateral symmetry. This is one of an important group of her early etchings and block prints  made from 1961-63, in the Blackburn Studio, all in small editions.
