Regular price
$400
Etching, 1925, Ed. no more than 30, 6 x 9, on smooth cream wove simili vellum paper, old brown paper tape hinges to corners recto, signed, dated and titled in pencil. A moody and sensuous print by Fitsch, who studied painting and then printmaking with Mahonri Young at the Art Student's League, eventually replacing him as a teacher of etching there in 1924. He became extensively involved with both the theater and dance world, designing sets and working with many famous performers of the day. Many of his prints show activity behind the scenes, or exhibit a theatrical or contemplative mood such as this fine example.
