"Quartet" by James Weeks, Amer., (1922-1998)
Regular price
$350
Etching, 1975, ed. 200, 8-3/4 x 11-13/16, signed & dated in pencil on warm white wove paper. Small stain left margin edge, light toning to mat opening. James Weeks, born in Oakland, California, taught at the San Francisco Art Institute and University of CA at Los Angeles until 1970, then at Boston University, where he became chair of the Art Department until his retirement in 1987. Weeks made very few prints, and this etching on a musical theme, "Quartet", retains the classical sense of order and monumentaliy of his best paintings.
