"All Men Are Created…" by Eugenie Lotz Goggin, Amer., (B.1936)
Woodcut. 1965, ed. of 10, 12-11/16 x 19-3/4, signed, titled & numbered in pencil, on warm white laid paper. There are handling creases, mostly in the margins, and bands of tape residue in the margins where the previous overmat was attached, 1/2" from the image. Eugenie Lotz Goggin lives in the Cincinatti area, and is well known for her bold portraits of American jazz artists. Despite the condition issues, this large and powerful print, which was created while the artist was living in Waterbury, CT during the tumultuous civil rights era, presents an eloquent plea and reminder of the struggle for equality under attack and in need our support and advocacy as much today as half a century ago. Uncommon.
